Release of the PNSrv8 COM Interface!

The PNSrv8 COM Interface was designed to make it easier for you, the developer, to programmatically control the TIFF Image Printer through your .NET applications by providing the ability to control and communicate with the TIFF Image Printer 8.0 during the printing and file creation process. It replaces and greatly enhances the older script file methodology used in the previous versions of the printer.

Fixed and added:

  • black pages when converting color images using a CMYK compression has been resolved.
  • issue of print failing when the incorrect DevMode is sent.
  • colour reduction to BW missing in control stings.
  • license wizzard prompt getting hidden.
  • getting “can not change thread mode when already set” error message.

Following Text Extraction items have been corrected:

  • spaces in words appearing in the text extraction file for Times Roman font.
  • issue of only getting text from the last page when multipage was selected.
  • printing from Visio.

Released TIFF Image Printer 8.0.000 – November 17, 2008

Supported Platforms at the time of release.

  • Windows 2008 including SP1

  • Added the ability to control how the fax image is scaled and its alignment on the fax-sized page.

Added the ability to do page and image processing:

  • Automatically trim page margins based on a customizable intensity level
  • Crop and discard image margins or crop and keep an inside area of the image
  • Adjust the image brightness level
  • Copy all or part of the image to a new page of the same or different size, and choose scaling and alignment of the new image.

New image resampling features allow you to scale the output image to a particular width and height. The new dimensions can be set using:

Pixels

  • as a percentage of the original size
  • or by setting a new image resolution (DPI).

All printing is processed synchronously with the print job in the print spooler. The print job is held in the print queue until the TIFF file is created and is ready for further processing. This is different from the previous versions of the driver and should simplify the automation process for application developers who are watching the printer queue to determine when the TIFF file is created.

Control Strings can now be enabled or disabled. Control Strings are disabled when TIFF Image Printer 8.0 is installed

With this release, the TIFF Image Printer 7.0 processing model is now identical to the PEERNET.DRV eTIFF 6.0 printing model. The default installation is back to spool document and start printing immediately.

When the TIFF Image Printer 7.0 was first released, the printing model was changed to do not journal in order to support 64-bit platforms. However, customers moving from PEERNET.DRV eTIFF 6.0 encountered great difficulty in upgrading do to this change in the printing model. We hope this move back to the eTIFF 6.0 printing model will allow you, our customer, to finally take advantage of everything the TIFF Image Printer 7.0 has to offer.

Added support for Windows 2003 (SP2)

Update TIFF Image Printer 7.0.011 – 7.0.013 – January 5, 2007

TIFF Image Printer fully supports Windows Vista both 32-bit and 64-bit editions.

TIFF Image Printer fully supports Windows Office 2007.

TIFF Image Printer fully supports Internet Explorer 7 including the new protected mode.

Update TIFF Image Printer 7.0.008 to 7.0.010 – September 12, 2006

In order, to control the number of jobs being converted at a time in TIFF Image Printer 7.0, there is now a Set Max Jobs command. It sets a registry key value that controls the number of jobs that can be executed in parallel, there by preventing too many jobs from running at the same time.

This release fixes the Simple MAPI and Extended MAPI support. In previous builds, the Simple MAPI and Extended MAPI e-mail support was not correctly passing the UNICODE string through the API, which resulted in e-mail address not being resolved to one recipient.

This release fixes the e-mail support in 7.0.008 and 7.0.009 builds that prevented the e-mail modules from loading when not Office 2007.

Added 7.0.008 added support for Office 2007. There was an issue configuring e-mail when using Office Excel 2007 beta. We have added a workaround for this issue.

Update TIFF Image Printer 7.0.006 and 7.0.007 – June 29, 2006

In this update, processing of printing and converting pages to TIFF is controlled on the printer’s properties Advanced tab. All print spooling options are supported.

  • When you selected “Print directly to the printer”, the conversion process is completely synchronous. So when you print, the printing and conversion process will not return until the job is completely finished.
  • When you select “Start printing when last page is spooled”, the conversion process will not start until all pages have been spooled.
  • When you select “Start printing immediately”, the conversion process start immediately. This is the default.
  • Install has been reduced significantly.

This release also fixes issue where user define variables Var0 through Var9 in script file were not being passed to the conversion process.

Update TIFF Image Printer 7.0.004 – May 3, 2006

This is a cumulative patch release to fix the following issues:

Canceling print job failed to cancel the job. Print job is now cancelled as expected.

When “Spool print documents so program finishes faster” is selected on the Advanced tab of the printer’s properties dialog, the conversion to TIFF process is done asynchronously. This processing is the same processing model used by PEERNET.DRV eTIFF 6.0.

When “Print directly to printer” is selected on the Advanced tab of the printer’s properties dialog, the spooling and conversion to TIFF are processed synchronously. This mode makes it easier to automate the conversion process and know when the TIFF file(s) are finished being created. PEERNET.DRV eTIFF 6.0 does not offer this mode of processing.

Fixed random problem with AutoCAD shaded fills that would randomly be drawn incorrectly.

Released TIFF Image Printer – March 27, 2006

Added support for Windows XP Professional x64 Edition and Windows 2003 x64 Edition that supports both AMD64 and Intel Extended Memory 64 Technology (EM64T). This product does not support Itanium-based Systems.

Added support for specifying LZW and Packbits compression for black and white TIFF images. LZW black and white compressed TIFF images are useful for creating black and white images that can be opened by Adobe ® Photoshop.

Added new variables to provide information users entered on the Print Dialog to clients that send their TIFFs to be printed on a printer capable of printing TIFF images directly.

$(Copies) – Number of copies
$(Collate) – 0 for FALSE, 1 for TRUE
