How To Configure Multiple Printers With Different Settings


If you needed to create color TIFF files and black and white TIFF files depending on the original source on a regular basis, then you could use the “Copy Printer” in TIFF Image Printer to create two printers so you can set one printer to create black and white TIFF files and the other printer to create color TIFF files.

Steps to Create 2 Printers With Different Configurations

  1. Install TIFF Image Printer.
  2. Click Start menu – All Programs – TIFF Image Printer 11.0 – Copy Printer.
  3. Enter a name for the first printer that will create color files, such as Color TIFF Printer.

  4. Click Start menu – All Programs – TIFF Image Printer 11.0 – Copy Printer.
  5. Enter a name for the second printer that will create black and white files, such as Black/White TIFF Printer.

  6. Open Devices and Printers
  7. Open Printing Preferences for Color TIFF Printer (Right click Color TIFF Printer – Printing Preferences).
  8. Click the Save tab and set the following settings:
    1. Select Reduce to optimal palette for the Color Reduction.
    2. Enter the location where to save the TIFF files in the Output directory field. You can click the Browse button to select a location or manually type in the path.
    3. Check Prompt only when needed and Overwrite always. This disables the Save prompt window so the file is automatically saved to the Output directory).

    4. Click OK
  9. Open Printing Preferences for Black/White TIFF Printer (Right click Black/White TIFF Printer – Printing Preferences).
  10. Click the Save tab and set the following settings:
  11. Select Reduce to black and white for the Color Reduction.
  12. Select Floyd-Steinberg for the Dithering Method.
  13. Enter the location where to save the TIFF files in the Output directory field. You can click the Browse button to select a location or manually type in the path.
  14. Check Prompt only when needed and Overwrite always. This disables the Save prompt window, so the file is automatically saved to the Output directory.

  15. Click OK
  16. Users can select either Color TIFF Printer to create color TIFF files or Black/White TIFF Printer to create black and white TIFF files.
