Quick Start Guide Learn how to use the PDF Creator Plus to convert and merge documents to pdf. |
Converting CAD output (DWG Files) to PDF is easy with PDF Creator Plus!
Whether you are designing a new home or a large office building, the key to success is effective communication with your clients and colleagues. The client needs an easy and reliable way to view your drawings in order to give you feedback. PDF is the most common format used to share information today. You can email a PDF document to virtually anyone and be sure that they will be able to open it. Just think of the time and money saved by exchanging emails instead of physically sending paper by courier.
By plotting to PDF Creator Plus, you can be sure that your original paper size will be retained, be it D, A1, B0, or custom size. Your drawings are always complete and to scale. Nothing is cut off.
Step-by-Step
The steps below will guide you through creating a PDF from CAD drawings. After you do it once, you won't even need these details again - it's that easy!
| 1) | When you install PDF Creator Plus, a new printer named PDF Creator Plus 5.0 is also installed. You can find this printer in the Devices and Printers folder on Windows® 7, the Printers folder if you are running Windows Vista or the Printers and Faxes folder if you are running Windows® XP. |

| 2) | Open a CAD drawing in your CAD software. The steps below use AutoCAD® but the steps should be similar for other CAD software. |
| 3) | If you are using AutoCAD® 2009: |
| a) | Select the Plot icon in the Quick Access Toolbar in the upper left corner. |

| 4) | If you are using AutoCAD ® 2007: |
| a) | Click File then choose Plot... from the menu. |

| 5) | Set the Printer/plotter settings: |
| a) | Set the Printer/plotter to the PDF Creator Plus 5.0 printer. If you do not see the PDF Creator Plus 5.0 printer in the list, check that you do not have AutoCAD® configured to "Hide system printers". This option is configurable on the Options dialog Plotting tab from the Page Setup dialog. |

| b) | To plot your drawing on a large paper size, you also need to set the PDF Creator Plus 5.0 printer to use the appropriate paper size. Click the Properties button to set the desired paper size on the printer. Select the matching paper size in the list of paper sizes available to the PDF Creator Plus 5.0 printer then click OK to return to the Plot dialog. |

| 6) | Click OK on the Plot dialog to plot your drawing to the PDF Creator Plus 5.0 printer. |
| 7) | PDF Creator Plus will open and display the printed drawing. The page dimensions of the drawing are shown in the lower-right corner; you can see that the drawing has retained it paper size of E size sheet. |
| a) | To create your PDF document now, click on the Create PDF button in the upper left corner. |
| b) | If you want to merge multiple drawings into a single PDF document or add other types of documents to this PDF file, leave the PDF Creator Plus application open and print the desired files to the PDF Creator Plus 5.0 printer. When you have printed all required files, click on the Create PDF button in the upper left corner. |

| 8) | The Create File dialog will appear: |
| a) | Browse to the location where you wish to save the PDF document and enter the file name for your new PDF document. |
| b) | Make sure the Save as type is set to PDF File (*.pdf). |
| c) | The Page Range options allow you to select a subset of pages that will be included in the PDF document. |
| d) | Check the Create Multipaged File option to make a PDF document that contains all the pages in one (1) file. |
| e) | Choose any font embedding, security, outline, hyperlink, initial view and page layout options as needed. |

| 9) | Press the Save button to create your PDF document. A progress dialog will appear as your document is being created. When the document is created the progress dialog will close. Your drawing is now a PDF document and can be shared, emailed to clients or stored for future use. |
