Quick Start Guide Learn how to use the PDF Creator Plus to convert and merge documents to pdf. |
Generate EMF files from Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, CAD drawings, and even custom in-house application formats with PDF Creator Plus. You can combine documents from different sources into a single unified project, and create an organized set of images at any time.
EMF is ideal for embedding images inside other documents. You can place, arrange and scale EMF images from PDF Creator Plus inside any application that supports insertion of images.
EMF files are a serialized file format; this means that a separate EMF file will be created for each page in the project. The individual file names will be appended with a number corresponding to the project page number. Choosing EMF output from a two-page project file as MyEMF will create two files, MyEMF_0001.emf and MyEMF_0002.emf.
Step-by-Step
Here is a step-by-step guide to create an EMF file from from any document. After you do it once, you won't even need these details again - it's that easy!
| 1) | When you install PDF Creator Plus, a new printer named PDF Creator Plus 5.0 is also installed. You can find this printer in the Devices and Printers folder on Windows® 7, the Printers folder if you are running Windows Vista or the Printers and Faxes folder if you are running Windows® XP. |

| 2) | Open a your document in its native application, such as Microsoft® Word for a Word document, or AutoCAD® for a DWG file, then select File - Print from the application menu as if you were going to print a paper copy of your document. |
| 3) | In the Print dialog, select the PDF Creator Plus 5.0 printer and click OK. The actual print dialog for your application may differ slightly from the print dialog from Microsoft® Excel shown below. |

| 4) | PDF Creator Plus will open and display the printed document. |
| a) | To create your EMF files now, select File - Create Other File... from the application menu. |
| b) | If you want to add more pages to this project before creating the EMF files, leave the PDF Creator Plus application open and print the desired documents to the PDF Creator Plus 5.0 printer. When you have printed all required files, select File - Create Other File... from the application menu. |

| 5) | The Create File dialog will appear: |
| a) | Browse to the location where you wish to save the EMF files and enter the file name for your new files. |
| b) | Make sure the Save as type is set to Enhanced Metafile (*.emf). |
| c) | The Page Range options allow you to select a subset of pages that will be included in the EMF documents created. |
| d) | All other options are disabled (grayed out) as they are not applicable to EMF file creation. |

| 6) | Press the Save button to create your EMF files. A progress dialog will appear as your document is being created. When all files are created the progress dialog will close. Each page of your document is now an EMF file and can be embedded into other applications. |
