PEERNET has sold a version of PDF Image Printer for the last 20 years, yet the release of PDF Image Printer 12 marks one of the most dramatic overhauls to how the virtual printer operates behind the scenes and to how the user interact with the virtual printer. PDF Image Printer 12 includes a wide range of major improvements and new features. Some that users have been asking for, and others that we've been planning for awhile and we hope will be a welcomed surprise.
PDF Image Printer now includes a user interface that is modern, clean and easy-to-use. There is a Dashboard, which is the hub for PDF Image Printer where users can edit their conversion settings, manage their printers and access licensing tools. In addition, the Dashboard provides quick access help and resources.
With PDF Image Printer 12 we've introduced the concept of Profiles, which are a group of settings used to create the output file you want. These can be created and edited through our brand new Profile Manager interface. When created or editing a Profile within Profile Manager, users will have access to all output settings available in previous versions of PDF Image Printer as well as newly added features such as filename creation, stamping, and document information. Another brand new utility with PDF Image Printer 12 is Printer Management, which allows users to copy, create, delete, and rename instances of PDF Image Printer without having to work with the Devices and Printers menu.
In addition to all of these front end additions, PDF Image Printer 12 includes major driver improvements. Perhaps the most significant improvement is that PDF Image Printer can now produce both searchable and non-searchable PDF files. The ability to create searchable PDF files has been long requested and we are pleased to be able to include this feature in PDF Image Printer 12.
New starting with PDF Image Printer 12.0.020 is the ability to perform OCR or Optical Character Recognition, when creating PDF files. OCR attempts to recognize the text on scanned pages or on images and extract it as digital text. With this new feature, you can now create fully searchable PDF files from scanned PDF documents. You can also save the recognized text from the PDF as hOCR, Text, and ALTO OCR files.
Existing PDF Image Printer users
If you are upgrading from an earlier version of PDF Image Printer this chapter will help you to understand the new features and changes that have been made to PDF Image Printer.
