Quick Start Guide Learn how to use the PDF Creator Plus to convert and merge documents to pdf. |
Converting Microsoft® Word documents to PDF is easy with PDF Creator Plus!
Whether it is a 500-page manual you need to publish to your website, or a 2-page newsletter you want emailed to family for an up and coming sporting event, PDF Creator Plus can convert your Word document to a PDF with all bookmarks and hyperlinks intact.
PDF is the most commonly used file format today for sharing documents via email and the Internet. You can email a PDF document to virtually anyone and be sure that they will be able to open it.
Step-by-Step
| 1) | Open your Microsoft® Word document. |
| 2) | After PDF Creator Plus is installed you will find a new Save As PDF 5.0 button in Microsoft® Word. The Save As PDF 5.0 Add-In is accessed from different locations depending on which version of Microsoft® Office you are running: |
| a) | If you are running Word 2007 or Word 2010 click on the Add-Ins tab on the ribbon interface, than select the Save As PDF 5.0 button on the toolbar to access the Save As PDF 5.0 Word Add-In. |

| b) | If you are running Word 2003, Word XP or Word 2000 click the new Save As PDF 5.0 button on the toolbar, or choose File - Save As PDF 5.0 from the File menu. |

| 3) | When you click Save As PDF 5.0, the PDF Bookmark Creation Settings dialog will display. From this dialog you can choose what outline level you want to assign to each document style. The defaults of Heading 1, Heading 2 and Heading 3 are normally all you will need. Click the OK button to start the conversion process. |

| 4) | A progress dialog is displayed while the Save As PDF 5.0 Add-In moves through the document and processes each page gathering outline, heading and hyperlink information. |

| 5) | When the process is complete, the document is then automatically printed to the PDF Creator Plus 5.0 printer and the PDF Creator Plus application will open with your Word document as a new project. Document styles that were assigned outline levels are displayed in the Outline view tab in the left-hand side Navigation panel. If you cannot see the Outline view, click on the Outline tab to bring it forward. |

| 6) | Your Word file is now ready to be saved as a PDF document. |
| a) | To create your PDF document now, click on the Create PDF button in the upper left corner. |
| b) | If you want to merge multiple Word files, or add other types of documents to this PDF file, leave the PDF Creator Plus application open and print any desired Word files using the Save As PDF 5.0 Add-In or any other formats by printing to the PDF Creator Plus 5.0 printer. When you have gathered all required files, click on the Create PDF button in the upper left corner. |

| 7) | The Create File dialog will appear. |
| a) | Browse to the location where you wish to save the PDF document and enter the file name for your new PDF document. |
| b) | Make sure the Save as type is set to PDF file (*.pdf). |
| c) | The Page Range option allows you to select a subset of pages to include in the new PDF document. |
| d) | Check the Create Multipaged File option to make a PDF document that contains all the pages in one (1) file. |
| e) | Choose any font embedding, security, outline, hyperlink, initial view and page layout options as needed. |

| 8) | Press the Save button to create your PDF document. A progress dialog will appear as your document is being created. When the document is created, the progress dialog will close. Your Word document is now a PDF document and can now be opened in Adobe® Reader, published to your website, emailed or stored for future reference. |
