Step-by-Step

Here is a step-by-step guide to create PDF from CAD drawings. After you do it once, you won’t even need these details again. It’s that easy!

1. When you install PDF Creator Plus, you will find a new printer named PDF Creator Plus.
2. Open a CAD drawing and select File > Plot. Set the Plot Device to PDF Creator Plus, and press Plot! PDF Creator Plus opens a window and displays the printed drawing.
3. Rotate the page to the desired orientation if required.
4. Press the CREATE PDF button, choose a name and location for your PDF file, and click Save.

Your drawing is now a PDF document! It is ready to be shared, sent to clients, or stored for future use.

Common Questions when using AutoCAD and PDF Creator Plus

How can I configure PDF Creator Plus to plot to any size paper from within AutoCAD? or
My AutoCAD drawing is not the correct page size when I create a PDF file. How do I fix this?

Please close your AutoCAD application before making these changes.

1. Open the Printers folder (Start->Settings->Printers and faxes)
2. In the Printers folder window menu, select File - Server Properties.
3. In the Server Properties dialog, on the Forms tab, check "Create a New Form"
4. Enter a descriptive name in the "Form Description for:" field (e.g. "30 x 42" or "36 x 48").
5. Set the Measurement units to "Inches"
6. Enter the desired Width and Height

   IMPORTANT: Make Width < Height, you can always choose Landscape orientation later. e.g. Width 30, Height 42

7. Click "Save Form"
8. Repeat steps 3-7 for each new paper size you want to create.
9. Click OK when you are done.
10. Open your drawing in AutoCAD. Select File - Plot, and in the Plot dialog, set the Plot device to PDF Creator Plus.
11. On the Plot Settings tab, select the desired paper size, orientation (Landscape), and scale (Scale to fit), and click OK.

When I try to plot from AutoCAD, the PDF Creator Plus printer does not appear in the list of available plotters.

To resolve this issue, follow the steps below.

1. Close the Plot dialog.
2. Select File - Page Setup.
3. In the Page Setup dialog, click the Options button (bottom right)
4. In the Options dialog (Plotting tab), UNCHECK "Hide system printers" (bottom left)
5. Click Apply & Close, then OK.
